First graders have been studying about the plant life cycle in science. They shared what they have learned about plants with their program “How Does Your Garden Groove?” The fun catchy songs and silly puns in the program really brought these plants to life. Two favorite songs included “The Hot Potato” and “Please Don’t Put Me in a Can Can.” From our dancing veggies, to our cool shades hot peppers, the kids had a great time singing their way through the garden.

Tomorrow's the Day!
Hey, hey, hey, it’s coming soon,
Dr. Seuss’s day is here by noon!
On March 2nd, dress with flair,
Red, white, stripes, or crazy hair!
Wear fun hats or socks that pop,
Green Eggs and Ham, or a Thing 1 top!
Iron Springs, come shout and cheer,
It’s a Seuss-tastic day, so let’s all cheer!
Guess Who's Coming to Lunch, Oh My, Oh My!
The Cat in the Hat is coming today,
With his big red bowtie, he’s ready to play!
He'll twirl and he’ll dance, he’ll make you grin,
And the fun will begin with a tip-top spin!
But wait, there’s more, oh yes indeed!
Thing 1 and Thing 2 are sure to succeed!
They’ll giggle and wiggle and cause quite a stir,
They'll leave you laughing, that’s for sure!
But here’s the best part—oh, you must know!
The Lunch Ladies are ready to give you a show!
They’re giving away 40 books, yes, it’s true,
For students who eat lunch, just for you!
So come on down, and don’t be shy,
With Seuss’s Special Guests and books to fly high,
It’s the best lunch ever, with fun all around,
Come join us and make your day profound!

Ms Barnhurst's third graders enjoyed using their hands to learn what it means to not give up when your first ideas don't work quite right. Mrs. Crosby, our school counselor, had groups of students work together to build a tower with index cards. When the tower fell over or wasn't coming together quite right they had to be creative and innovative to come up with the solution that would work.
