Group of students

At CMS we have an esport team with some amazing coaches: Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Olenslager. SUU students that run the esport team there, come help coach the CMS esport teams afterschool. Here’s a list of our current esport teams - Minecraft: A fun game with the nicest community out there. Rocket League: Talk to Jesse or Torsten, they are rocket league people. Super Smash Bros: This is a battling game that everybody loves. Mario Kart: is a fun, action packed racing game.  Torsten, a current esport team member, says that playing rocket league improves your skills and allows you to work with people you already know”.

The esport team have been on two field trips. Last semester, the teams went to a competition at Utah Tech University to compete with other schools in Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, and Mario Kart. Many high school students won scholarships at this competition.

Recently, on March 10, the esport team went to the University of Utah. While there, we listened to speakers, competed in challenges, and watched professional esports players. The esport team had to leave CMS early in the morning. After a long 4 hour bus ride we finally arrived at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. At the arena we listened to Audra Yocom, Erin Trenbeath-Murray and the CEO of Nintendo America, Doug Boswer! After that, the students got free time to go to booths and watch professional esport players. There many students received free items and swag from the booths. The students returned to CMS at 7:30 pm. It was an amazing experience.
