It takes a village to raise a child and it takes many dedicated music teachers to run a summer band. Our own band teachers, Mr. Palmer, Mr. Ball and Mr. Jordan teach the summer band classes. Plus, Mr. Sorenson from CHS and Mrs. Palmer and many advanced high school students come share their expertise and talents to teach these young aspiring musicians. Summer band runs for 4 weeks in June, Monday through Thursday mornings. This program involved about 250 students plus volunteers this year. There are beginning classes for new students just picking up an instrument for the first time. Then there are group rehearsals for students returning to JV or Symphonic band. And don't forget about our students that will be moving onto the high school. The incoming high school students come to learn the pep band songs and play in the Pre-Reds band class led by Mr. Sorensen. This year a new class is a drumline led by Mr. Jordan. Each summer band class performs on Thursday June 30th, the last day of summer band. Way to go to all the musicians involved new and seasoned!
