Orchestra playing for a group of students

Leading up to the holiday break in December the music classes were busy with holiday concerts and sharing their musical talents:

On December 12th  and 14th  the CMS Warriors bands performed The Symphonic, Concert, JV, Jazz and a Percussion Ensemble, 6th bands: Romans, Egyptians, Spartans, all played very well at their Christmas concerts. If you want to listen to our bands you can find their concerts on YouTube, search for CMS Bands. A shout out to all the amazing band teachers, Mr. Palmer, Mr. Ball, and Mr. Jordan and custodial staff for making it possible to have these fun concerts. The band teacher put so much time and effort into making these concerts fun and enjoyable for all ages. The students loved playing the fun holiday songs. Some of the students’ top favorite songs were; Deck the halls with Chips and Salsa, Latin bell carol, Zat You Santa Clauses, and Christmas at the Movies. Another fun tradition the band classes do on the last day of school before the holiday break is to play a holiday carol in each hall for students to step out and listen to.

The Orchestras performed on December 13th  with the beginning classes, intermediate and advanced classes. These students put in many hours of practicing to share a top-notch performance with family and friends. And thanks to our awesome orchestra teacher, Mrs. Carrigan who spends many hours preparing for these orchestra concerts. The Orchestra also had a field trip to St. George on Dec 16th to perform in an orchestra exchange with Dessert Hills middle school for the intermediate and advanced classes. The students evaluated each groups performances and afterwards enjoyed some time at a local park.

December 18th was the Choir’s holiday concert in the evening and they sang amazingly! Kudos to our Choir Director, Mrs. Piep. During the day the orchestra and choir joined their music abilities and travelled to multiple elementary schools to sing and play holiday songs for elementary students to enjoy a sing along assembly.

The Spanish dual immersion students also sang traditional Spanish holiday songs for parents and friends in gym on that last Monday before break. Thanks for our dual immersion teachers for organizing the carol singing, Mrs. Mendoza, Mrs. Burgess and Mr. Stults.

Thanks to all who participated in such a musical season of the year, students, teachers and parents!
