Twice a month student that are keeping their grades up can qualify to attend an Enrichment activity during their advisory period. On October 8th the school enrichment was a fun activity as it made student's minds think as they had to build the tallest structure they could build without it falling, and it had to support a big marshmallow on top of it. Student gathered in groups of 5 or 6 to work together to use their limited supplies to build a tower. The winning group was Amy, Cutler, Kensly, Eliza, and Alison by building a tower at a whopping 26 inches tall. They used tape, and spaghetti noodles to build the structure. They had to make it strong enough to hold a marshmallow. This STEM activity used collaboration, teamwork, and critical thinking. It looked like the students had a great time. Special thanks to Mrs. Vogelsberger and her advisory team for putting on these Enrichment activities.

For the October 22nd Enrichment Activity students could go listen to the CMS Jazz Band and Percussion Ensemble. These musical groups are mainly 8th graders with a few 7th graders. These are not typical band classes, instead students that are interested in some extra playing time can talk to a band teacher about getting signed up to be in these music groups which meet and practice during advisory period. Even with limited rehearsal time the Jazz Band put on a spectacular performance with solos from a clarinet, saxophone, baritone sax, piano and drum players. The Percussion group wasn't left behind with amazing musicians playing instrument like the snare and bass drums, marimba, timpani and cymbals to name a few. Special thanks to Mr. Palmer and Mr. Ball for directing these two awesome groups.
