Last semester Mrs. Spencer's 8th and 9th period classes worked diligently during rehearsals for the performance of Holes on December 12, 16, & 17.

The play Holes is a play about Stanley Yelnats, a boy unjustly sent to a juvenile detention camp in the desert where he's forced to dig large holes daily to "build character," uncovering a mystery connected to his family's curse and buried treasure from a famous outlaw. In the 8th period class Henry, a student actor in the play, said, “it went well”. In the 9th period class Harleigh said “the experience and acting was good”. These actors said: “ we had to prepare a lot by memorizing lines, doing rehearsal, and overall just work together and listen to what others have to say.”

One audience member said, “One thing I observed is that it was hard to hear in the cafeteria as someone watching it and it would be nice if the actors would put a little more voice into the mics or turn up the mics more. But overall it was a fun play to watch and the actors did really well.”

Thanks to Mrs. Spencer, those volunteers that helped with lines and blocking and parents who brought their students to many after school rehearsals. It was an amazing undertaking and the students did a great job!

Holes reviewed by Harleigh C. and Angie A. (8th grade Journalist Students)
