Thursday, February 19, the TRIO school group went on a trip to Southwest Technical College and the SUU Aviation Center, all in Cedar City. Now, what is TRIO? Let’s break it down; Since 1964, TRIO programs have made it possible for more students to attend, succeed in, and graduate from college. Funded by the federal government, TRIO programs provide support, services, and resources to nearly one million students nationwide! For college bound students, TRIO is here to help you with academic support, career counseling, college planning, life skills, and personal growth.
Cedar middle school’s TRIO group went to Southwest Technical college at 9:30 A.M, they were given a tour for the next hour and a half. Students got to try on a firefighter's suit. They timed the student to see who could put on the full suit the fastest. Then they left for the SUU Aviation center by the airport, and they toured for an hour. While there we saw planes and helicopters. After the SUU Aviation tour, they went to Golden Corral for lunch. For the rest of the time, they were at D-BAT which is a baseball and softball training facility. Most of the students got to try out the batting cages. It was a great field trip. We appreciate all those that put it together.
