On September 21st and 22nd, the seventh graders went on a field trip to Cove
Fort and Fremont Indian State Park Museum. The seventh graders traveled by bus to these destinations and were educated about their histories. Cove Fort is built with volcanic rock, because there was plenty in the area. It was a safe lodge from 1867 to 1880 for
many travelers, the pony express, and telegraph lines, providing food and shelter to
anyone who needed it. They also went to the Fremont Indian State Park, where they
learned a lot about petroglyphs and pictographs. All of the artifacts and drawings there
were approximately 2,000 years old, giving the students a feel of what it was like in 300-
1300 Common Era (CE). Written by Kezia.
