This is a reminder that this coming week is Parent Teacher Conference Week in Iron County School District. School will dismiss early all week and there will be no early out Friday. Please see the schedule below for the week. Buses will run an hour earlier in the afternoon for our CMS students.
In an effort to make Parent Teacher Conferences more meaningful for all members of our school community, CMS uses a different format for our Fall conferences than is traditional. Teachers will be holding either individual or team meetings with parents and students depending on the student’s level of need academically and/or behaviorally. If there is a concern about your child’s academic or behavioral success at CMS you have already been contacted by your child’s teacher or administration through a phone call, email, or a team meeting schedule form asking for an individual or team meeting for you and your child. Please know that while it might seem intimidating to meet with the entire team of teachers, we chose to do this because we care about your child’s success and feel that making a plan as a team (parents and students included) is what is best. We are here to help and ensure we do all we can for your child to succeed and that is the purpose of the team meeting.
We would also like to allow parents to schedule individual conferences with any teachers they feel they need to meet with if a team meeting wasn’t needed. We have set aside time on the following days for individual conferences for parents that have concerns (please note that teachers will be in team meetings on the days they are not meeting individually with parents and students).
· 6th and 8th Grade Monday and Friday
· 7th Grade Friday only
To sign up for an individual conference for 7th and 8th grade students you can use the following link https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/Cedar_Middle_School. Once on the website just choose the teacher you would like to meet with and you will be able to see their available times and schedule a time that works for you. Our 6th grade teachers have already contacted their parents and allowed for an opportunity to sign up for conferences. If you didn’t see this communication, feel free to email your child’s teacher to schedule a conference. All teachers will be staying late on Monday night so that working parents have an opportunity to meet if they would like.
