On Tuesday, October 25 Chad Hymus came to CMS and gave an inspirational talk. The whole school gathered in the gym to hear this man's story. Chad came to the school to talk about how to stay positive and calm during chaotic times. Chad and his family loves basketball but when a 2,000-pound bale of hay fell on him while working on his farm his life changed drastically. He ignored his tractor's hydraulic indicator light like he had done many times, but this time he didn’t get so lucky. During his speech he talked about a boy he encountered while at another school. This boy was made fun of a lot, but when he chose to do a simple act like holding the doors open for people everyday the way people treated him changed incredibly. Chad explained that just the smallest thing could make a huge difference. One of our students said this about his presentation, “It was nice to see someone with a disability who instead of hating what happened to him, he focused on the positive and turned things around in his life.” Chad Hymus visited all the schools in Iron County and we are so lucky he shared his story with us. If you haven't heard Chad's presentation or want to learn more about it you can at https://www.chadhymas.com/.
